ObjectPark Software announced that its correspondence application LetterWorks is now Letter Star. The change came about after unsuccessful negotiations with Round Lake Publishing Co., Inc., which also publishes software titles that use the name LetterWorks. ObjectPark made the name change part of its free upgrade to version 1.6 of Letter Star and Letter Star Pro; the update also features usability improvements and stability enhancements. The company noted that all LetterWorks license codes are valid for Letter Star.
Letter Star allows you to pull data from your Address Book and automatically fill in the information, print PDF letterhead with your letters, create envelopes for your missives, use the included stationeries or make your own, and even write in the language of your choice. The application also includes a spellchecker, formatting capabilities, kerning adjustment, and other features found in most word processing applications.
The Pro version includes the ability to merge your letter with a mailing list for printing or faxing. Fax merge, however, requires SmileOnMyMac’s Page Sender 3.0.1 software.
Pricing is US$29.95 for Letter Star and $59.95 for the Pro edition. If you’d like to try before you buy, you can download a full-featured demo that prints a watermark on each letter until you purchase a license. System requirements call for Mac OS X version 10.2.3 or higher.
