KVM peripheral maker Gefen Inc. on Thursday shipped its new DVI 4×4 Matrix Switch, announced last month at CES in Las Vegas. The device connects four computers equipped with Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connectors to four DVI-equipped displays.
The DVI 4×4 Matrix Switch is designed to be an alternative to networking or patching cords, according to the manufacturer. It can be used with digital video sources, displays and projectors, and also provides keyboard and mouse connectivity through USB. Gefen markets the product to post-production, broadcast, education, corporate and entertainment facilities where such multi-system connectivity is needed.
The DVI 4×4 Matrix Switch sports digital video and control signals for each source, and is externally powered. What’s more, a remote control is included. The 4×4 Matrix Switch works with all DVI sources, displays and projectors, according to the company. Gefen sells a separate DVI to ADC conversion box if you plan to use Macs or displays equipped with the Apple Display Connector (ADC).
The DVI 4×4 Matrix Switch costs US$2,499.
