Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum has begun an audio guide service using Apple Inc.’s iPod digital audio players.
Visitors to the museum can borrow for no charge one of 20 iPods and listen to an audio guide of a current exhibition, which includes interviews with the creators and artists behind some of the pieces of art on display, said Michiko Nakatani, a spokeswoman for Apple Japan.
The service was inaugurated last week and is scheduled to run until April 11 when the accompanying exhibition, “Roppongi Crossing: New Visions in Contemporary Japanese Art 2004” is scheduled to close.
The Mori Art Museum is one of Tokyo’s newest cultural attractions. It was opened last year as the sprawling Roppongi Hills development in the center of the city also opened and occupies floors 52 and 53 of the landmark Mori Tower.
