Smith Micro Software Inc. on Tuesday will announce the release of FAXstf Server, a Mac OS X-native enterprise network fax solution based on their FAXstf X Pro v10.5 software.
FAXstf Server enables Mac OS X users to send and receive faxes over a LAN, wide-area network (WAN) or Intranet. The software features a network-based address book, network cover pages, administrative ability to restrict clients, support for Apple’s Rendezvous network discovery technology and more.
Installing FAXstf Server on a server machine running Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar,” you can also support multiple lines using USB-based modems. Administrators can route and distribute faxes using a Web browser — faxes can be forwarded to any e-mail address in PDF format. Users can also connect to the server remotely to check for faxes, and can search by name, sender, station message and date.
Leveraging FAXstf X Pro v10.5, users gain the ability to automatically print received faxes; automatically e-mail to specific addresses — useful for users who are on the road and need to access faxed material; full AppleScript support; Address Book support integrated with Microsoft Entourage and Palm Desktop; Cover Page and Page Header Editor; QuickFax Preview and more.
FAXstf Server is priced at US$399.95 for five client licenses, with add-ons available in volume increments. What’s more, the standalone version of FAXstf X Pro can also be used as a client with FAXstf Server, when updated to this latest release (the standalone FAXstf X Pro costs $89.95).
