Destineer subsidiary MacSoft on Thursday launched a Web page dedicated to its forthcoming Mac conversion of Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT 2K4).
UT 2K4 is the latest edition of the popular futuristic arena combat game, currently in development for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux at the studios of Epic Games. The game is anticipated for a simultaneous release sometime in March.
UT 2K4 adds land, air and space vehicles — everything from rolling jeep and tank-style vehicles to hover and attack craft and more. New game modes have been added too, including the Onslaught mode, where teams must defend and acquire strategic points, and the return of the Assault mode, a gameplay method that had been removed from last year’s Unreal Tournament 2003.
More than 95 maps are available, along with 45 new maps. Unreal TV enables spectators to log on and watch individual combatants and clans compete.
A playable demo is also available for download. The demo requires a Macintosh G4 or G5 with an 800Mhz or faster processor, OS X v10.2.8 or higher, 256MB RAM, and a 32MB video card.
