Novell announced recently that the upcoming release of version 6.5 of their GroupWise cross-platform client will support Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther,” in addition to Linux. The client, which is part of the GroupWise family of collaboration tools, is currently in an extended Beta program; the company expects to ship it in the next one to two months.
New features expected in the cross-platform client include: multi-user and multi-session support, user-defined start-up attributes, flexible calendar print-out, an address book import/export utility, and SSL security for sending and receiving messages. In addition, it will offer integration with a zip/PDF generating tool, anti-virus software, a lock-function for secure standby mode, log-file functionality, and SMS messaging.
The cross-platform client will also require Java Virtual Machine 1.4.2. If you’re interested in participating in the Beta, you can read more about it on a Web page at the Novell site, where you’ll also find a link to a sign-up page.
