Have US$14,995 lying around that you don’t know what to do with? You could always use it to purchase the 64-bit PowerPC version of Geospiza’s Finch Sequencing Center bundled with a 1.8GHz Dual Processor Power Mac G5. The Finch Sequencing Center offers the ability to crunch large chunks of DNA sequencing data and share it with colleagues over a Web-based management system.
Noted Geospiza chairman and CEO Todd Smith, Ph.D.: “The 64-bit G5 processor, combined with Geospiza’s Finch Sequencing Center, is a cost-effective fit for research teams who are looking for easy-to-use ways to increase their DNA sequencing analysis reliability and productivity, so they can get back to the science of doing discovery.”
Finch Sequencing Center connects DNA sequencing data generation with laboratory workflow and cuts costs while increasing productivity. It’s a scalable system that features order management, lab workflow, and data storage and analysis tools. The core system runs on Finch Application Server, which includes a relational database and a system administration framework. More functionality can be added with Finch Assembly Manager and the Finch BLAST Search Manager, which are designed for analysis, and Finch Customer Invoice Manager and Finch Oligo Order Manager, which are business-oriented.
The bundle, which will be available in April, also comes with licensing of the Finch Sequencing Center for up to 24 users, full system installation, self-training materials, and one year of standard support. Shipping is also included.
Pricing for the stand-alone Finch Sequencing Center software starts at $9,995.
