Macromedia recently released an updater that brings FreeHand MX, their collection of illustration and drawing tools for creating graphics destined for print and the Web, to version 11.02. The free update repairs a wide variety of bugs and improves support in Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther.”
Bug fixes include: a rounding error that didn’t convert to 14.1732 points when entering 5m in the leading field; a crash or error message that occurred when opening a file with a blended object that has two composite paths with basic transparent effect applied; problems with opening and using legacy files; crashes when printing documents with incomplete or corrupt Type 1 fonts; the inability of two-stroke dashed paths to display properly at high magnification; and more.
Macromedia notes that if you purchased and downloaded the application from the company’s online store after February 25, you should have the newest version. Otherwise, you’ll need to upgrade to FreeHand MX 11.0.1, which is also a free download, before applying this fix. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.6 “Jaguar” or higher.
