SideSpace Solutions, Inc. has added Mac OS X support to UniverSQL, their enterprise-class toolkit that offers cross-platform connections to Microsoft Windows databases, such as those running in Access and SQL Server.
UniverSQL uses an XML protocol to transfer data from Windows databases to TCP/IP clients. It features a remote query GUI, cross-platform remote administration, and enterprise-level encryption and proxy options. Installation features a point and click process that allows companies to get the software running quickly and easily.
Clients for C, C++, COM, Delphi, PHP, Perl (DBI), Python, Java (JDBC), and Kylix, most with full source code, are included with UniverSQL. You can add clients for other languages with SideSpace’s open XML query protocol.
UniverSQL comes in three versions: Desktop, Professional, and Enterprise, which includes a high-performance cluster and proxy server that allows you to place multiple UniverSQL servers in front of a single database computer. The feature also includes failover support that automatically handles failover between UniverSQL machines. Pricing is US$49 for the Desktop edition, $99 for Professional, and $199 for Enterprise. SideSpace includes free updates for life with all three.
If you’d like to try before you buy, you can download a 14-day trial version of UniverSQL from the SideSpace Web site.
