Summitsoft Corp. subsidiary MacXware on Tuesday introduced a new version of its MediaEdit Pro software. First introduced last November as an $80 tool that provides video, audio and image editing capabilities, MediaEdit Pro has been enhanced with new features and capabilities, optimized for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther” and has had its price chopped in half.
With MediaEdit Pro, you can import digital video clips from cameras and other DV devices as well as content created using QuickTime-supported file formats, enhancing the video with more than 200 effects, filters and transitions. What’s more, you can create your own effects using the script editor. You can edit audio by controlling volume, time duration and balance. You can also record voice-overs or import MP3, AIFF and WAV audio files.
Special features of MediaEdit Pro include a Rotoscoping tool that allows you to “paint” directly on frames of your digital movie. You can use this effect for generating traditional cartoon-style rotoscope images or for special effects. You can also generate 3D anaglyph effects, mask images, perform color correction, export to MPEG-4, QuickTime, AVI, DV and more.
Besides Panther optimization, new features in this new release of MediaEdit Pro include a customizable interface, audio mixing and a new Audio Library, text and titling tools, crop effect, MIDI conversion before import, imaging masking, and the REALbasic script editor.
