With the number of small office/home office (SOHO) professionals on the rise, Lexmark recently introduced four new All-In-One and inkjet printers: the X5270, X1185, and X2250 All-In-One Print Centers and the Z816 Jetprinter. All of them feature Lexmark’s new six-color ink system that combines dye-based and pigmented inks for richer colors, especially in printed photos.
The US$129 X 5270 is capable of printing up to 15 pages per minute (ppm) in color and up to 22 ppm in black. 4 x 6-inch and 8.5 x 11-inch borderless photos can be printed in as fast as 32 and 70 seconds, respectively. It comes with a 48-bit flatbed scanner that can handle 600 x 2400 resolution, and it can run off copies of documents in speeds up to 15 copies per minute (cpm) in black and 9 cpm in color.
The $79 X 1185 and $99 X2250 (Web page not available at press time) are low-end All-In-One Print Centers that both offer print speeds up to 14 ppm in black and 8 ppm in color. Both also feature a flatbed scanner and copying ability, but the X2250 can copy documents even when not hooked up to the computer.
Finally, the $99 Z 816 offers nothing but printing functions, with up to 22 ppm in black and up to 15 ppm in color, as well as 4 x 6-inch and 8.5 x 11-inch borderless prints coming out as fast as 32 and 70 seconds, respectively. PrecisionSense technology automatically aligns the cartridge with the type of paper sensed while the Accu-Feed paper handling system just about eliminates paper jams.
Lexmark expects to ship all four printers soon.
