On Wednesday, Kano Technologies unveiled its portable SLIM-K4Xtreme DVD burner, a slim multi-format drive with FireWire and USB 2.0 connections. According to the company, it can burn a 4.7GB DVD in less than 15 minutes.
The SLIM-K4Xtreme is compatible with DVD+RW/-RW, DVD+R/-R, CD-RW and CD-R media formats. It writes DVDs at 4x speed and writes CDs at 16x; it reads DVDs at 8x and CDs at 24x. You can power it through a FireWire port or use the included PS2 power cable for juice if you use it with a USB 2.0 port. It weighs just 14 ounces and measures .75-inch high, 5.5 inches across, and 6 inches deep.
In addition to the necessary cables and external power adapter, the SLIM-K4Xtreme also comes with Roxio Toast 6 Lite software. Retail is US$329, or $379 if you’d rather have Roxio Toast Titanium in place of Toast 6 Lite.
