Destineer subsidiary MacSoft released on Thursday an update to Age of Mythology, available for download from Macgamefiles.com. The update incorporates a number of improvements and fixes, including the fix to a problem that prevented the game from working right on certain dual-processor Mac systems.
In Age of Mythology, you take command of legions of warriors in ancient times, led by heroes and aided mighty beasts and monsters of myth and legend. You can lead one of nine ancient civilizations through four distinct ages, calling upon your mythical creatures — as well as the powers of the Gods themselves — to crush your enemies.
The 1.0.1 release improves support for multiplayer gaming through GameRanger Premium, according to Macsoft. What’s more, the updated version no longer crashes on certain dual-processor configurations, but you must also update to QuickTime v6.5 to affect the change.
Other changes in this release include updating the code base to the same version used by the PC version 1.07 (the previous Mac release was based on the PC version’s 1.03 release). A pause key command was added, along with a variety of fixed bugs and slight performance improvements. More details are included in the update’s Read Me file.
