FireWire Depot recently added to its line-up of computer storage and other peripherals with the introduction of the 1394b IDE02 dual channel bridgeboard and two new RAID 1 enclosures.
The FWB-IDE02 dual channel bridgeboard features two IDE channels that each support two ATA drives connected to the FireWire 800 serial bus, as well as a RAID (Span) function geared toward video and image file storage. It complies with T13’s ATA/ATAPI-7 draft specification and supports 48-bit addressing for hard drives larger than 128GB. It fits in most standard SCSI enclosures.
The FWB-IDE02 dual channel bridgeboard will start shipping on March 17 with a price of US$139.99.
The first new RAID 1 enclosure, the U2FW ATA525D-R1, is a combo unit that features one USB 2.0 and two FireWire ports. Two ATA drives can be hot-swapped on its two IDE connectors. If one drive fails, it automatically switches to the other one and issues an alert.
The U2FWATA525D-R1 will be shipping later this month with a $329.99 price tag.
The other new RAID 1 enclosure, the FWBA TA525D-R1, is a FireWire 800 to ATA device bay with a RAID 1 controller. It features a FireWire 800 to ATA bridgeboard, an IDE-RAID-IDE subsystem, an ATA mobile rack, and a case that comes with a power supply. Like its new sibling, it can also accommodate two hot-swappable hard drives, with the ability to switch to the working drive if one fails.
The FWBATA525D-R1 will also be shipping later this month. The price is $399.99.
