Scripting tool software maker Late Night Software Ltd. has released Affrus, a new Mac OS X application used for editing, debugging and running Perl scripts.
Affrus features syntax coloring, identifier indexing and other editing tools. It also integrates with Bare Bones Software’s popular BBEdit and TextWrangler text editing tools.
Affrus features a single window editing design, with support for find and replace, drag and drop, split-pane editing, unlimited undo and redo, Table of Contents popup menu, a contextual Perl navigation system, the ability to locate handler/variable declarations and much more.
The software also includes a long list of debugging features like single-step execution, the ability to step into and step out of handlers, trace execution, call stack display, display local variables and much more. And Affrus also provides a command-line tool that can be invoked from the Terminal application. This also means that Affrus sports Unix shell integration, stdin redirection and Environment variable redirection. Affrus is also AppleEvent scriptable, recordable and attachable.
Affrus costs US$99 for the download version, $109 for the CD-ROM version. It requires a G4-equipped Mac or better with Mac OS X v10.2 and Perl 5.6 or 5.8.
