SimpleTech Inc. is introducing a 400GB model of its external SimpleDrive hard disk storage line at this week’s CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. The event runs March 18 – 24, 2004. Look for SimpleTech in Hall 20, stand E18.
Equipped with USB 2.0 and FireWire 400, the 400GB SimpleDrive features a 7200-RPM mechanism that’s compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. The USB 2.0 interface is downwardly compatible with the USB 1.1 interface found on many Macs. The 400GB model is joined by new 120, 160 and 250GB drives as part of SimpleTech’s “SimpleDrive Deluxe” product line.
The SimpleDrive also features a security lock slot to prevent the drive from being taken. The lock slot allows you to attach the drive to a secure object like a desk or wall. The drive measures 5.51 x 8.86 x 1.35 inches, and sports an aluminum enclosure that works without a fan.
The new 400GB drive is $500. A $470 model is also available that features USB 2.0 only. Look for the new drive to be available from leading electronics retailers and e-stores in April; it’ll also be available from BJ’s and Sam’s Club warehouse retailers.
