Marathon Computer has announced that its G5 Rackmount is now available. The G5 Rackmount is a vertical rack mounting solution for Apple’s Power Mac G5. The device, which was announced last month, is now shipping to customers who pre-ordered it.
The G5 Rackmount enables Power Mac G5s to be mounted in an equipment rack without making any modifications to the Power Mac’s case. It works using shaped clamps contoured to fit the G5’s handles, which hold the machine at the front and rear on a rigid rackmount deck. The Power Mac G5 can be released from the rack by removing two screws on the rack’s front.
The aluminum-and-steel rack sports cross-bracing and can fit rack depths from 19 to 34 inches. It’s 12U tall and can hold two G5s side by side.
The G5 RackMount costs US$199.
