Microsoft Corp.’s Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) on Tuesday
unveiled several features from the upcoming release of Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac. Episode 1 of an ongoing series that will appear on Microsoft’s site, the Flash demo introduces users to several features that have been previously announced and many more that are being shown for the first time today.
Lead program manager, Kris Barton, leads viewers through the new features that include:
Presenter Tools in PowerPoint: Want to get rid of speaking jitters? Use PowerPoint 2004 Presenter Tools, with an on-screen clock, notes pane and thumbnails of the entire presentation — all viewable only to the presenter.
Three Column View in Entourage: Desktop real estate is always at a premium. The Entourage 2004 Three Column View situates the reading pane to the right of the e-mail list allowing you to view up to 40 percent more of the message on screen.
Junk E-mail Protection in Entourage: With an updated junk e-mail detection algorithm, Entourage helps less junk get through.
Archiving in Entourage: You can now export PIM data — such as e-mail messages, contacts or schedule — into an Entourage archive package. The MacBU said that other Flash videos would be available in the coming months.
