Lexar Media Inc. on Wednesday introduced two new JumpDrive flash media storage devices aimed at professionals looking for higher performance.
The JumpDrive Photo is a 40x speed-rated USB 2.0 flash drive intended specifically for professional photographers looking for a rugged way of transferring files. The software ships with Lexar’s own “Image Rescue 2.0” software, which recovers lost or deleted images from memory cards and the JumpDrive Photo. Compatible with Mac OS X or Mac OS 8.6 or higher, JumpDrive Photo will be available in April, initially in 256MB (US$89.99) and 512MB ($179.99) capacities. Lexar plans to offer 1GB and 2GB versions as well.
JumpDrive 2.0 Pro 80x is an even higher-speed flash media drive equipped with a USB 2.0 interface. Like the JumpDrive Photo, this new product is recognized as a mass storage device and works without any additional drivers on Mac OS 8.6 or higher. The drives ship in April, with capacities including 256MB ($89.99), 512MB ($189.99), and 1GB ($349.99).
