Konica Minolta recently unveiled the DiMAGE G600, a 6 megapixel digital prosumer camera that features 3x optical and 3x digital zoom for a 9x zoom range, a 1.3-second startup time, PictBridge compatibility for printing straight to any PictBridge-compatible printer, and more.
The DiMAGE G600 is just 3.7 inches wide by 2.2 inches high by 1.16 inches deep and weighs less than 7 oz. without batteries or recording media. It offers a 1 by 1.76-inch LCD screen that can magnify images up to 12 times with the high-speed scroll feature. Konica Minolta’s new A*IPS proprietary algorithm calculates optimum exposure, focus, and white balance to ensure better images. The camera’s macro mode allows you to get as close as 2.4 inches to subjects and still retain clarity.
Storage comes in the form of Memory Stick and SD Memory Card slots. The 16MB SD Memory Card included with the camera can hold as many as 133 pictures at 640 x 480 resolution in normal mode or as few as 5 shots at 2816 x 2112 resolution in fine mode. A card of that size can also hold two 30-second Motion JPEG video clips with sound. The DiMAGE captures video at 15 frames per second (fps), and up to 30 seconds of audio can be added to film clips or still images.
In addition to the 16MB SD Memory Card, the DiMAGE G600 comes with a USB cable, a Lithium-Ion battery with charger, and a neck strap. You’ll be able to buy it in early May at an estimated retail price of US$499.
