Griffin Technology Inc. announced Wednesday that it is shipping the SightLight, a light specifically designed for Apple’s iSight Webcam. The SightLight was demonstrated at Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco this past January, and is shipping two weeks earlier than Griffin previously expected it to be available.
The SightLight fits around the isight itself and is powered using the same FireWire connection used by the iSight. The Fresnel-based lens provides a diffused light source which Griffin said evens out the shadows caused by the inconsistent directional lighting usually found in rooms, and can also help iSight users in dark rooms or other low-light environments. Settings on the SightLight include On, Off and Auto light modes — the auto mode senses the amount of ambient light and adjusts the SightLight accordingly.
The SightLight costs US$39.99 and is compatible specifically with the iSight.
Griffin also provided an update regarding its new iTalk peripheral, a voice recorder aimed at users of Apple’s third-generation iPod models. The device includes a microphone and speaker and can support an external microphone as well. The company said the iTalk is still on-track for a mid-April release; it’s available for pre-order for $39.99.
