Apple has released Xgrid Preview 2, an updated version of the software that lets you turn networked Macintosh into an ad-hoc grid, to help speed the processing of long-running computations.
Improvements in Xgrid Preview 2 include a command line tool for submitting and monitoring jobs; support for Message Passing Interface (MPI), which allows Xgrid to configure and launch executables linked against MacMPI libraries; and numerous bug fixes.
Xgrid requires computers to run Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later with at least 128MB RAM.
