Shareware news reader Shrook was recently updated to version 2, which adds a variety of new features. Define the way you view and filter incoming news from your favorite Web sites with Smart Groups. Stream news through the new Atom syndication format, which works side-by-side in Shrook with the traditional RSS feed. Browse backward and forward through your history.
In addition, now you can also set up individual view options for each news channel, mark items to be read later and distinguish new unread news from old unread news, and browse faster with inline previews of item bodies.
Shrook 2 also retains the features found in the previous version, including the ability to synchronize your news feeds between different Macs and access them at Shrook.com when you’re away from the computer. Shrook knows what you viewed online and accounts for it when you return to your Mac.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther;” those still using Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar” should use Shrook 1.33. The license fee is US$19.95, and you can try it out for 30 days free before paying.
