Bare Bones Software Inc. on Monday offered a new maintenance release of their popular text editor for the Mac, BBEdit 7.1.3. The new version is offered as a free update to registered 7.x users, and it adds interface enhancements and fixes issues with previous releases.
BBEdit provides users with HTML and text editing capabilities. The software is used by programmers, Web page developers and others who need to edit, search and manipulate textual data.
The new release of BBEdit offers two additions: “Resolve URL” from the Edit menu has been changed to “Open URL,” and the “Auto Connect” setting in the FTP dialogs no longer requires you to turn on “Remember Password.” Almost three dozen bug fixes have also been made; they are too numerous to list here but you can review the current release notes on the Web site.
BBEdit 7 costs US$179. Upgrades from previous versions and crossgrades from competing products are available. More general information and a demo version are posted online.
