INSCI Corp. announced on Monday that its new WebWare ActiveMedia Desktop Client Connection for QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign files is now available. The plug-in allows designers to access digital assets in an ActiveMedia repository and place those images in their layouts without leaving either application.
The plug-in makes this happen by placing direct connections to the digital asset management (DAM) database in the QuarkXpress and InDesign file menus. Through that connection, designers can upload or download entire compound documents or single files, search the repository, and switch out old linked files for new ones, simultaneously updating the DAM database.
In addition, check in and check out privileges are kept in place during the process, and the plug-in ensures that duplicate files aren’t uploaded. It also makes certain that all content is versioned appropriately, so that no one accessing the DAM database accidentally retrieves old material.
You can expect to see the WebWare ActiveMedia Desktop Client Connection for QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign in May. Pricing has not been announced yet.
