SplashData Inc. announced on Wednesday that SplashID 3.0 is now available. The new version of the personal identification organizer for Palm OS adds new features as well as enhanced security to keep personal information safe.
Among the new features is support for custom icons, the ability to assign records to categories — such as “Personal” or “Business” — for filtering purposes, and unlimited template creation. Templates can have pre-defined field labels for such information as credit card numbers or Web site log-in names and passwords, but you can still customize them on a pre-record basis.
In the area of security, SplashID 3.0 auto-generates passwords according to specific criteria, a handy feature for users who have to regularly change passwords. Fields can also now be masked while the application is in use on a handheld or a computer, and encrypted back-ups of the SplashID desktop database are now automatic.
System requirements call for Mac OS 9.2 or higher to run the desktop application and Palm OS 3.1 or higher, with 220k of free memory for the application and 10k free for the data, on a handheld device. Pricing is US$29.95 for the full version and $9.95 for upgrades. A 30-day demo is available for download from the SplashData Web site, and the company also offers a $49.95 bundle that includes SplashID, SplashMoney, SplashPhoto, and SplashShopper.
