Tassman 4, a modular sound synthesis studio, will be available later in April, according to its developer Applied Acoustic Systems. Among other changes, Version 4 adds a performance mode for combining synths, presets, effects and MIDI maps; real-time audio effect processing; and better algorithms for enhanced sound.
Tassman comes with a wide variety of synthesized instruments found in its library and it allows you to build custom sounds. A browser organizes all your performances, synths, presets, modules, MIDI links, effects and imported patches, making them easier to find.
A full copy of the software is US$449, with upgrades from earlier versions available for $99. Applied Acoustic Systems also notes that anyone who purchased Tassman after January 1 can upgrade for free. System requirements call for Mac OS X v.10.2 “Jaguar” or higher, a G4 processor running at 733MHz or faster, and CoreAudio.
