On Monday, Xerox Corp. added two new models to its Phaser line of laser printers: the color 6100 and the black-and-white 3130. They’re aimed at small to mid-sized businesses looking for entry-level laser printers.
The 6100 prints in color at 5 pages per minute (ppm) and in black-and-white at 21 ppm, with two resolution settings: 600 or 1200 dpi. Two-sided color printing is a standard feature, and it comes with 64MB of memory. You can connect to it via its USB 2.0 or parallel ports, and a networked configuration is available in the DN model, which adds US$200 to the $699 price tag.
The 3130 can produce pages at speeds up to 17 ppm, with 1200 dpi resolution. It features 32MB of memory and hooks up to your Mac via a USB 2.0 or a parallel port, with an external adaptor available for network use. The price is $299.
Both printers support Mac OS 9.x or Mac OS X v.10.x or higher.
