Game maker Aspyr Media Inc. announced Wednesday the release of a playable demo version of Command & Conquer: Generals. It’s a new real-time strategy game that Aspyr is shipping on April 12; the publisher expects it to be on store shelves by April 16, 2004.
Command & Conquer: Generals is the first installment of the popular Command & Conquer game series to reach the Macintosh since the first one debuted back in the late 90s. You assume control of U.S., Chinese or Global Liberation Army forces in a series of battles, managing resources and technology development while sending units of air, land and sea vehicles into combat.
The demo version of Command & Conquer: Generals contains one training mission for the U.S. side and two complete game missions for the Chinese and Global Liberation Army. The 362 MB demo can be downloaded from Macgamefiles.com.
System requirements for the demo and the full game call for Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later; G4/1GHz or faster; 256MB RAM; ATI Radeon 7500 or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better 3D graphics with at least 32MB VRAM. The full game also requires 1.6GB of free hard disk space, and supports network play between Macs only.
