{“Reader Jack Tiedemann is having problems with InDesign and a Xerox printer. That problem goes a little something like this:

Although Mr. Tiedemann may have mucked with every setting imaginable, it’s worth mentioning that there can be multiple places to change margin settings and if you don’t nail every one, your margins may remain out of whack. With that in mind, I might suggest:
1. Select Page Setup and choose Custom Paper Size from the Settings pop-up menu.
Here you’ll find settings for, well, creating custom paper sizes as well as configuring printer margins. Once you’ve saved your new setting you can save it as the default by choosing yet another obviously named command — Save As Default — from the Setting pop-up menu.
BTW: Should you wish to return to the original default setting, just hold down the Option key and select the newly-revealed Restore Original Default from the Settings pop-up menu.
2. If that doesn’t do the trick, select Page Setup again and look for the name of the application you’re having trouble with in the Settings pop-up menu. Some applications offer their own margin settings here.
3. Finally, launch Printer Setup Utility (found inside the Utilities folder), select your printer in the Printer List window, and select the Configure Printer command from the Printers menu if the command is enabled (if your printer doesn’t include a configuration utility, the command will be grayed out). If you can configure the printer, check for margin controls. “}
