I went out in the driving Northern California rain last night, on a quest — or to put it another way, to take a census. Macworld News Editor Philip Michaels and I went looking for Pepsi bottles with iTunes contest bottle caps.
In five stores, I found a total of 29 bottles.
28 of them were Diet Pepsi. At the lovely Safeway by my house, I found a single regular Pepsi amid the diets. I also found about a zillion Caps for Caps caps — that’s Pepsi’s last promotion, which was tied to the Super Bowl. By the end of the evening, “Caps for Caps” was the nastiest swear word you could think of.
So, has anyone else out there found iTunes bottle caps on regular Pepsi? Anyone sighted a Sierra Mist with an iTunes cap on it? And why do I keep finding the caps on Diet Pepsi? Is the universe trying to tell me to drink more diet soda?
