Many of us at
are fans of Alton Brown, host of the funny and educational
on TV’s Food Network. (He also hosted the recent
revival show.) But AB is also a fan of Apple and the Mac. So when I mentioned to him in January that we were trying to do a yearlong celebration of the Mac, he offered to whip up a brand-new recipe incorporating apples and “mac”—macaroni, that is.
When AB’s recipe arrived, I set about making it. On my first try I failed. The second time I got it right.
So if you decide to make this dish you could use a few tips. I’ve posted them
here. Want to go straight to the recipe?

And check out
if you get Food Network. It’s a really fun, smart show. In fact, I’d say it’s the Mac of cooking shows. And that’s high praise, coming from me.
