I admit it. I’m an addict. I need a daily fix of the Billboard Charts on the iTunes Music Store.
I was like a kid in a candy store when the iTunes Music Store was first introduced in April 2003. I didn’t think my addiction could get any worse, but I was wrong.
Shopping at the iTunes Music store gave me a chance to pick up songs and albums from artists that I listened to as a teenager and to buy the newest hits for my kids without ever leaving my easy chair. (I tried to get my kids to listen to my music, but besides my 8-year-old son’s love of Ozzy, that hasn’t worked so well).
The only problem with the iTunes Music Store was trying to remember something about an artist or song you wanted to buy so you could do a search for it. Often times this worked, but I still couldn’t find them all.
The Billboard Charts changed all of that. Now I just go to a year and see what the top 100 songs were. Not only did I find enough songs to put my family in the poor house, but it’s also become a game for my wife and I, testing each other on who sings the songs. (Yes I need to get out more).
I found some classic songs that I never would have thought of without the Billboard Charts. Does anyone remember The Streak by Ray Stevens or how about 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, a classic from Paul Simon.
There are lots of classic tunes out there that I will be buying with the help of Billboard Charts. I will continue to feed my addiction.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I must shop.
