Peripheral Enhancements Corp. on Tuesday announced the launch of new 2.5-inch “Ultra Portable” external hard drives. The new Ultra Portable line is available in 20, 40 and 80GB capacities and uses USB 2.0 to communicate with Macs or PCs. After rebates, the drives are available for about $125, $150 or $260 respectively.
The new Ultra Portable drives are bus-powered, but they’ll also work with an external power supply. The drive chassis is enclosed in a brushed aluminum case which measures 128 x 78 x 15 millimeters. System requirements call for Mac OS 8.6 or later, or Windows 98 on up.
