Konfabulator, the do-anything application from Arlo Rose and Perry Clarke, has been updated to v1.6. The new releases features text rendering that’s optimized for Panther, sports new image handling characteristics, supports animated GIF files and uses a new JavaScript engine. Support for Panther’s Exposé feature has also been improved.
Konfabulator works with files called “Widgets” — mini-applications created by independent authors using a combination of XML, JavaScript, AppleScript and sometimes Unix commands — that can do just about anything their creators want them to. Konfabulator Widgets can give you weather forecasts, tell the time, take screenshots, play mini-games, check news feeds and much more.
Konfabulator costs US$25 to register; this update is free for registered users. For a complete list of changes in v1.6 please check the Web site. Konfabulator works with Mac OS X v10.2 “Jaguar” or later.
