Apple on Monday released Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.1. This new release is designed to update the internal firmware on D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later) and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks and Power Macs.
Apple’s description of what’s changed in this release is identical to what it’s offered for previous Bluetooth firmware updates: The company says that improvements have been made to the update installation process, better performance is available when waking the computer from sleep, and support has been added for additional key commands during startup.
What has changed are the system requirements — Apple says this update requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, or Mac OS X v10.3.3. The update is not recommended for 10.3, 10.3.1 or 10.3.2.
Apple also notes that using this firmware updater on a D-Link USB to Bluetooth adapter will make it incompatible with non-Macintosh systems. Proceed with caution. The 1.4MB download is available from Apple’s Web site.
