Popwire Technology has shipped Compression Master 2.3, the new version of their media encoding application, and Compression Engine 1.6, the latest iteration of their server-side media coding software.
The latest release of Compress Master includes more than 80 professional encoding templates, the ability to create watermarks from video, configurable output naming conventions and new output formats, including DV, DVCPRO, more AVI formats and MPEG-2 with 4:3, 16:9 and 2.21:1 aspect ratios. It’s a free update for registered users. Others can download a 30-day demo, with a 20-second encoding limit, from the company’s Web site. The full version is US$495. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.x “Jaguar” or higher, a G4 or better processor, 256MB RAM and QuickTime 6.5.
Compression Engine 1.6 adds speed to the coding process and features the ability to use full-motion videos as watermarks, better de-interlacing quality through edge detection interpolation, new output formats that include more MPEG-2 formats and DV and Popwire Monitor, a tool that graphically monitors the application’s current state.
