Digital Anarchy on Tuesday announced 3D Layer 1.0, a new tool for Adobe After Effects, discreet combustion and Apple Final Cut Pro users that provides special effects that can be distorted, extruded and modeled using 3D meshes.
The developer explained that 3D layers in compositing applications are typically “flat,” and can’t be deformed or modeled. 3D Layer enables users to bend, warp or punch through effects, texture map effects onto models and animate them too. Users can use grayscale displacement and modeling maps. Up to five texture maps can be applied to the 3D mesh.
3D Layer 1.0 costs US$149 and requires After Effects 4.1 or higher, Final Cut Pro 4.x and combustion 3.0 on Mac OS X or Mac OS 9.2 or higher.
