The MathWorks announced on Tuesday that Mapping Toolbox, a MATLAB component that analyzes and displays geospatial data, has been updated to version 2. The release offers new 2D and 3D map display tools that are easier to use, access to more geospatial data, including standard GIS formats, and more. MATLAB was designed for high-end technical computing needs; its open architecture allows for the creation of a variety of add-ons, such as Mapping Toolbox.
Mapping Toolbox 2 requires MATLAB, which runs on a G3 or better processor, Mac OS X v.10.1.4 or higher, 90MB of hard drive space (215MB if MATLAB Online Help is installed) and 128MB RAM (256MB recommended). Pricing starts at US$900.
