Next month, Olympus will release a driver enabling Macintosh users to connect Olympus P-10 Digital Photo Printers to their computers, the company announced on Monday. The US$199 P-10 can function as a standalone digital photo printer, but now it will also have Mac connectivity via a USB 1.1 cable. You’ll be able to download the free driver that makes this possible from the Olympus Software Downloads Web site in mid-June.
The company also noted on Monday that a free downloadable firmware upgrade is now available for owners of certain Olympus cameras that don’t have PictBridge technology, which allows you to print directly from a PictBridge-compatible digital camera to such printers as the P-10 Photo Printer. Affected models are the D-560 Zoom, the Stylus 300 and 400, the C-740 Ultra Zoom and others that didn’t originally ship with PictBridge. You can find the firmware upgrade at the Olympus Software Downloads site.
