During NetWorld+Interop 2004 in Las Vegas, Belkin announced a new line of battery backups for the Home, Office and Small Enterprise Series. They all provide RJ11 surge protection for telecommunications equipment, power management software that automatically shuts down your system at specific times and proactive outage alerts. In addition, they feature data backup transfers over USB connections and six surge-protected outlets, four of which are backed up by battery.
Belkin’s Home Series of battery backups sell for US$39.99 (model 375VA) and $59.99 (500VA). The former offers a 200-watt capacity and 15 minutes of backup time while the latter features a 300-watt capacity and 28 minutes of backup time. The Office Series retails for $69.99 (550VA), $99.99 (750VA) and $109.99 (750VAR). The first features a 330-watt capacity and 28 minutes of backup time while the second and third offer a 400-watt capacity and 38 minutes of backup time; the third also includes surge protection for broadband applications.
Finally, Belkin’s Enterprise Series sells for $119.99 (900VA) and $139.99 (1100VA). The former features a 540-watt capacity and 50 minutes of backup time while the latter offers a 640-watt capacity and 80 minutes of backup time. All of the company’s new battery backups are compatible with Mac OS 9.2 and higher, including Mac OS X v.10.3.
