MakeMusic Inc. on Thursday announced the 2004 release of Finale PrintMusic, new music notation software for Mac and Windows users. The software can create scores of up to 24 staves and print out parts; it can also print out lead sheets including lyrics, chord symbols and guitar fretboards. The software accepts input from mice, MIDI keyboards, sheet music scans or through a microphone.
PrintMusic sports new features including “human playback,” which plays back your music as you’ve written it; “SmartMusic SoundFont,” a collection of 128 instrument sounds identical to those found in MakeMusic’s SmartMusic software; the ability to create accompaniments with SmartMusic; music scanning identical to that in Finale 2004 and more. It’s also been Carbonized for Mac OS X. Finale PrintMusic 2004 costs US$69.95 or $19.95 to upgrade. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or Mac OS 9.0.4 or higher; 800×600 display; CD-ROM drive; 256MB RAM and 200MB available hard disk space.
