Big Bang Chess 1.021 released
Freeverse Software has updated
Big Bang Chess to v1.021. The free chess game uses OpenGL graphics and supports solo, network and play by e-mail modes. The update fixes bugs.
Creepy Mines 2.5 released
Danlab Games has released an update to Creepy Mines 2 to bring it to v2.5. The new release of the unusual brickbashing game adds a new level in ten stages, adds two new in-game views, corrects bugs, and also sports a 3D anaglyph view (that simulates 3D with red/blue glasses).
iPoker 3.1.1 released
Scenario Software has updated
iPoker, its Mac Poker game, to version 3.1.1. The new release fixes bugs.
MacMod.com has re-opened for business, after first launching in 2001. The site is dedicated as a central resource for Mac modding enthusiasts. The site features a discussion forum, mod-related news, a featured mod of the week, and archival of mod guides and more. (The site was not responding when MacCentral posted this article.)
UT 2004 ‘community bonus pack 2 volume 1’ released
There’s a new
community bonus pack 2 making the rounds for Unreal Tournament 2004 players that provides four new character models, 21 new maps, and a new mutator called SpiderSteroids.
Virtual Grand Prix 2 v1.06 released
Virtual Programming Ltd. has released an update to Virtual Grand Prix 2, their open wheel racing game for the Mac. The new release fixes problems displaying sky graphics and an improved filter for force feedback-equipped game controllers.
Westlake’s Halo efforts profiled on Apple Developer Connection
A new feature on the Apple Developer Connection’s Web site profiles Westlake Interactive and its effort to bring Halo: Combat Evolved to the Macintosh. Westlake discusses the tools it used to help program and debug Halo.
World War II Online 1.14.0 released
A new version of
World War II Online, v1.14.0, is ready for download. WW2 Online puts you in a massively multiplayer world where you battle for supremacy in the European theater during World War II. Dozens of changes and improvements have been made to this new release, so make sure to download the latest version if you’re an avid player.

This week MacCentral brought readers news about two new games for younger players coming soon
from Scholastic. Aspyr Media released
a demo of Call of Duty, its hot new World War II-era first person shooter. Aspyr is also offering
its Adrenaline Sports Pack, combining three previously released “extreme” sports games for $20.
Medal of Honor Breakthrough is now shipping. An
“unofficial” 3204 patch is available for MacSoft’s Unreal Tournament 2004.
