Eastman Kodak Co. released
Digital Gem Airbrush Professional, a new Adobe Photoshop plug-in, on Wednesday. It accepts digital images drawn from a variety of sources, including digital cameras, picture CDs, the Internet and scanners, smoothing imperfections in the skin without affecting facial details. The plug-in offers three levels of detail as well as the ability to correct only the darker areas of an image, the lighter areas, or both, with support for 16-bit and 8-bit images.
Digital Gem Airbrush Professional requires a G3 or better processor and 128MB RAM; it works with Adobe Photoshop 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7.0 or CS, Photoshop Elements 1.0 or 2.0, PhotoDeluxe 2.0 and Photoshop LE 5.0, running in Mac OS 8.6 or higher or Mac OS X. Kodak notes that the plug-in may also work with other plug-in compatible applications but doesn’t specify which ones. You can visit the company’s Web site to download a demo, which places a watermark on all images until you pay the US$99.95 license fee.
