Germany-based music software developer Native Instruments on Monday began shipping Guitar Rig, a software application combined with a foot controller. First announced in March, Guitar Rig offers three tube amplifier emulations, 20 sound effects including delays, reverbs and EQs, and a “Cabinets and Mics” module that includes ten speaker types and five microphone types, each with four different positions. You can combine any amplifier or effect in any order or quantity.
The foot controller, called Rig Kontrol, requires no separate MIDI interface; it’s plugged into a standard guitar cable. Rig Kontrol includes four freely assignable switches and a pedal for controlling the software. Guitar Rig costs US$499 or €499.
