UK-based peripheral maker Miglia Technology has invited third-party developers to support its AlchemyTV DVR for the Macintosh with the introduction of a new Software Development Kit (SDK) that can be downloaded from their Web site. As a proof of concept, independent developer Fabio Verna has already created DivTV, a plug-in that enables AlchemyTV users to export content to VCD and S-VCD media. DivTV is also available for download from the same Web page.
AlchemyTV DVR is a PCI-based TV tuner and digital video recorder (DVR) card that installs in Power Mac G4 and G5 systems. It includes coaxial, S-Video and composite video interfaces and an infrared remote control, and comes with scheduling software that integrates with Apple’s iCal. The device records video to hard disk in Motion-JPEG and MPEG-4 formats. It retails for US$159.
