“Untitled” may work for photographers, painters and musicians, but not for software. That’s why Boinx Software announced on Thursday that it’s seeking a new name for its slideshow creation software Untitled App, which is currently available as a Public Preview. The person who submits the best name before July 17 will win an Apple iSight, licenses for all Boinx products and an honorary mention in the newly-named application’s About Box. Contest rules and an entry form are available on the Boinx Web site. The company hasn’t provided a ship date yet, but Public Preview license codes expire Sept. 30, and anyone who wants to buy a license for the final version before it ships can currently save US$10 off the $79 price.
Untitled App ties in iPhoto and iTunes, allowing you to modify both your images and songs a variety of ways as you build a slideshow. You can scale and rotate pictures to make them fit your parameters and insert pans and zooms that bring a sense of motion to your presentation. Your songs can repeat as many times as you like during the slideshow, and you can alter the volume for each one individually. Untitled App also features three transitions, automatic scaling to the size of your display during playback and more. Boinx notes that not all the tool’s features work in the Public Preview version, which requires Mac OS X v10.3, a G4 800MHz processor better and 64MB Video RAM.
