BridgeCo on Monday introduced BeBoB 2.0, a new silicon and software-based technology that enables Mac OS X applications to interface with breakout boxes using FireWire. An acronym for BridgeCo Enhanced Breakout Box, BeBoB is aimed at companies that develop such devices for musicians and consumers alike, and provides a way for users to record audio from instruments, microphones or audio samples onto their computer. More than a dozen manufacturers have licensed the BeBoB technology for their own devices, including Apogee, Edirol, Presonus and Tascam.
