Mac CPU upgrade maker PowerLogix on Thursday announced its new PowerForce G3 upgrade, aimed at Power Mac G3 beige and blue and white systems. The new US$349 upgrade operates at 1.1GHz and is shipping now. It works with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9, according to the company.
In related news, PowerLogix has also cut prices on its PowerForce G4 upgrades — 1.2GHz and 1.4GHz upgrades for AGP and Gigabit Ethernet-equipped Macs are now $399 and $439, down from $439 and $539 respectively. PowerLogix’s Dual Processor PowerForce G4 1.3GHz model is now $749, down from $899 — it works on all Power Mac G4 models except PCI graphics-equipped (or “Yikes”) models.
