Earlier this week Parliant Corp. unveiled the PhoneValet Message Center, a combination of software and hardware that turns the Mac into a telephone messaging center complete with voice mail, voice recording, and remote control services through AppleScript. On Friday Parliant offered a software update and an upgrade path for existing PhoneValet systems.
The PhoneValet Message Center 2.0 software upgrade adds a caller ID box interface to notify users of recent callers and improved e-mail notification, along with other enhancements. It’s a free upgrade for existing PhoneValet users, and it lays the groundwork to support new features like call recording, voice mail, a remote control feature that allows you to call in and launch AppleScripts over the phone, integration with fax software and more. Those features require Parliant’s second generation Parliant Telephone Adapter, however.
The full PhoneValet Message Center comprising the new adapter and software costs US$199.95, but Parliant is offering users of the first generation phone adapter an upgrade to a second generation adapter for $99.95. System requirements calling for Mac OS X v10.1.5 or higher (v10.2 recommended) and an available USB port.
